Louis Vuitton for UNICEF: Follow the LV Reporters in Viet Nam
Since 2016, Louis Vuitton and UNICEF have partnered to support the world’s most vulnerable children. Each year, a group of Louis Vuitton employees is selected to witness UNICEF’s impact for children and families and become ambassadors of our partnership. This annual visit gives LV Reporters a unique opportunity to observe UNICEF’s work on the ground and to share their learnings.
This November, LV Reporters Guillermo, Merfy, Sophie, Joi, Benoît-Louis and Jade travelled to Viet Nam, a country facing the growing effects of climate change while nurturing a vibrant movement of young climate leaders. Their mission: to see firsthand how UNICEF, together with the government and local authorities protects children, strengthens communities and builds long-term resilience for the future.
Day 1 — Empowering Young Voices and Confronting the Climate Crisis
The LV Reporters began their journey at UN House in Hanoi, where the UNICEF Viet Nam team provided an immersion into the country’s climate and social challenges. They learned that Viet Nam has been the 13th most affected country by climate change in the world in the past two decades and faced 13 typhoons this year alone—an unprecedented number—. From this first exchange, one message stood out: children are on the front line of the climate crisis, and they are also key actors in the solutions.
This conviction became tangible during their visit to Voices of Green, a youth-led media initiative supported by UNICEF. Entirely run by children and adolescents, the platform empowers young people to report on society, the environment, culture and daily life through their own lens.
The LV Reporters met the young editorial board and were deeply moved by their confidence, creativity, and commitment. They also participated in a creative workshop, where students and LV Reporters imagined and drew solutions for the future — a moment of shared inspiration that illustrated how creativity can spark real change. Driven by its core principles — creativity, respect, hands-on learning, and action — Voices of Green is now inspiring youth across Viet Nam, reminding the group that the voices of children truly have the power to move others.
Day 2 — Learning from Viet Nam’s Young Climate Changemakers
On Day 2, the LV Reporters stepped into the dynamic world of Viet Nam’s youth climate movement: Ynet Viet Nam, a national network uniting youth in climate action. During the “From Ideas to Action” Fireside Chat and the “Weaving the Future” Exhibition, they discovered more than 30 youth-led projects created as part of Viet Nam Youth Climate Action Week 2025.
What struck the team most was the clarity, courage, and determination of these young leaders, each turning personal experience into action for their communities. Jade, representing the LV Reporters during the round table, shared her reflections alongside them, contributing to a dialogue on how youth-led innovation can shape more resilient and inclusive futures.
One aspect in particular left a lasting impact: Anh, 23, advocacy member of Ynet, shared how growing up in Hanoi exposed communities and families in Viet Nam to both severe storms and the less visible consequences of climate stress — including the rise in domestic violence. She now works to empower adolescent girls and young women to take on leadership roles and build a more gender-equal society. Through Anh’s speech, the LV Reporters understood how climate change deepens inequalities, and how local youth are responding with creativity, inclusion and resilience. They learned that climate action in Viet Nam is not only about protecting the environment — it is also about protecting rights, strengthening communities, and giving every young person the chance to shape their future.
Day 3 — Witnessing Resilience at Tam Kim School
On their final day, the LV Reporters travelled to northern Cao Bang Province, one of the regions most severely hit by typhoons: the Super Typhoon Yagi in 2024, the strongest storm to strike Viet Nam in 70 years and multiple typhoons and floods between June and November 2025.
At Tam Kim School, they witnessed the reality of a community still recovering. Classrooms had been flooded, learning materials destroyed, and landslides had isolated families for days. They quickly understood that a natural disaster disrupts every dimension of childhood — from access to education and health services to emotional well-being. UNICEF teams mobilized within 72 hours after the typhoon, providing emergency supplies, educational kits, clean water solutions and psychosocial support. Seeing this response on the ground helped the LV Reporters grasp the critical importance of acting fast to protect children in a crisis.
The morning was dedicated to the school’s “Safe and Green Community” closing ceremony, where students proudly presented creative outfits made entirely from recycled materials. Each costume carried symbols of climate resilience, showing how environmental education can be transformed into creativity, confidence and collective pride. They then discovered the newly rebuilt Green Library, which had been destroyed during the typhoon, and became the heart of the school. They also visited a room dedicated to psychological support where children can express their emotions, receive help to cope with anxiety, and be referred to a health center if necessary. The LV Reporters saw how essential such spaces are for restoring a sense of normalcy and hope after distressing events.
They had the opportunity to see how the installation of solar panels for the school and the community, ensuring power during blackouts, stood out as a simple yet transformative solution that keeps lifesaving services running when families need them most. Before leaving the community, the team visited the local Commune Health Center to understand how climate shocks affect not only infrastructure but also children’s health and nutrition. They attended to nutrition counseling where the health worker explained to a mother how to employ ready-to-use therapeutic food to recover from malnutrition. They learned how UNICEF supports immunizations, nutrition screenings, maternal care and emergency health services — all of which become even more vital when disasters increase risks for children.
In the afternoon, the LV Reporters joined children from the Tam Kim school for a series of activities facilitated by Tohe, a social enterprise supported by UNICEF. Through warm-up exercises, outdoor games, creative painting workshops and recycling sessions, they experienced firsthand how play, art and movement can help children rebuild confidence, express emotions and reconnect with joy after a traumatic event. This moment of shared creativity reminded the team that supporting children’s well-being goes beyond infrastructure — it also means nurturing their resilience, imagination.
Reflecting on the journey
This field experience left a deep impression on the LV Reporters, who witnessed the resilience of the children and families they met, as well as the role and crucial impact of UNICEF. Since their return, Guillermo, Merfy, Sophie, Joi, Benoît-Louis and Jade have been sharing their stories to mobilize the Louis Vuitton community and raise awareness about UNICEF’s mission and the support of Louis Vuitton.
