How Louis Vuitton involve young talents to build careers in future store leadership?
At Louis Vuitton, people are our key asset. As part of our continuous effort in engaging with young talents, Philippines HR Team participated in career fair and talks organized by two top universities in Manila, namely De La Salle University and University of Santo Tomas in January and February 2020. Close to 200 young talents and 40 leading companies from various industries attended these bi-annual career fairs. Nearly 35% of the Retail new hires were hired directly from both schools since Louis Vuitton participation in the event for the past 3 years.
“What's great about Louis Vuitton and what sets it apart from other well-know luxury houses is the fact that everybody is expected to be innovative and agile. The culture is disruptive, and shaking the traditional definition of luxury - changemakers and ahead of its time. The House enabled me to continuously challenge myself and go beyond the status quo. I am glad that I have chosen to apply to this brand straight from graduating from De La salle university.”, enthusiastically supports Stanly, currently Acting Team Manager, Louis Vuitton Philippines Greenbelt store who joined the Maison as a Client Advisor 3 years ago.
Alumni, Janine, currently Client Advisor, Louis Vuitton Philippines Greenbelt store, joined the networking sessions to share with the young talents about the opportunities in Vuitton as well as her unique career exposures and experience. “I am glad to have joined the University Career Fair. It opened door of opportunity for me to land a job in this luxury company 3 years ago and my Mandarin skills are put to good use because I get to interact and engage with a lot of Chinese clients and play a supportive role in growing the business”, she confides.
Human Resource Manager, Melanie from Louis Vuitton Philippines was also invited as one of the panel speaker for the career talks where she provided insights, career guidance and tips to motivate and inspire the talents to make decisions about their career. Young talents were eager to learn more about Employee Experience at Louis Vuitton and asked her many questions such as... ’What is the work culture like in Vuitton?’ and ‘How is a day like for a Vuitton Retail employee’ ? .
This has so far been the perfect opportunity to meet and introduce Vuitton to those who expressed great enthusiasm and interest in luxury retail. We saw how these individuals transitioned from sending out their resumes, to getting hired and to eventually becoming leaders themselves.
