Beaulieu-sur-Layon: our 16th workshop in France
Thursday, September 5, 2019 - A new leathergoods workshop opens in Beaulieu-sur-Layon in the Maine-et-Loire department of France, with 300 leather artisans.
Constructed from metal and timber to create a series of modular spaces, the 6,000 m² workshop is fully flexible and extremely energy efficient.
Its fully glazed facade floods the interior with natural daylight to deliver the perfect lighting, sound and thermal environment essential for handmade craft techniques.
The un-partitioned interior provides a single space that can be adapted to the needs of new products as they emerge.
Beaulieu-sur-Layon is one of a new generation of workshops designed around the leather artisans central to the creative process.
The Maison created 780 new jobs in 2019 (including 210 in the Pays de la Loire region), and plans to hire a further 1,500 people for its French workshops between now and 2022.
